Authentication

Outlook Express 5 and 6

  1. From the Outlook Express "Tools" menu, choose "Accounts".
  2. Click the index-tab labeled "Mail".
  3. Click to highlight your TurboNet email account, and click "Properties".
  4. Click the "Servers" index-tab.
    • In the "Server Information" section, make sure "Outgoing mail (SMTP)" is set to mail.turbonet.com (If it's 127.0.0.1 or localhost, those are probably also OK.  They were put there by your antivirus program)
    • In the "Outgoing Mail Server" section, check the box for "My server requires authentication".
    • Click the "Settings..." button.

    • If your incoming mail server is mail.turbonet.com and your outgoing mail server is also mail.turbonet.com, you can check "Use same settings as my incoming mail server". Otherwise, check "Log on using", and type your TurboNet mail account username and password here.  Your username is usually the first part of your email address.
    • Click "OK".
  5. Click "OK" to return to "Internet Accounts", and close the window.
  6. Note that if you're dialing in or otherwise connecting through another ISP, they may be blocking port 25.  If this happens, go to the Tools menu and click Accounts.  Highlight the proper account and pick Properties.  Click the Advanced tab and change the outgoing (SMTP) mail server to port 366.
